YAMAHA Stratocaster SR-500 This is good condition yellow Sunburst finished SR-500. Outlook is so so as 30 years old guitar. The production year is around 1975-76 from its serial number. The SR-500 is a bit different from 400. SR-400 is 2 PLY wood body. SR-500 is sold body. I'm not sure how much sound different between 2 PLY and solid. The sound like not big different. When I got this guitar, the owner has cut the pickguard and took of the middle pickup. I have changed the Yamaha original pick guard from my stock and put the Greco late 70's made pickups on. Therefore, this guitar is not original condition. I have only changed the pick ups. Therefore, electric circuits are original condition. The body has little bit dents and scratches. Please refer the picture below. The neck is straight. The truss Rod is adjustable. The frets were worn but still playable. If you hate it, I recommend you to level them. Yamaha is one of good buying JV guitar. Because, Japanese collectors are not paying attention so much. The price is still reasonable as vintage (used) guitar. These Yamaha was made by Kasuga in 70's. Well, the PU cavity is different from original Fender, but the tone is pretty good. How the people evaluate the value of guitar. I think mostly just brand name. |
