YAMAHA SG-70 1974 Made Yamaha started SG series (same shape with current SG) in 1974. The line up of this SG series are SG-175, SG-90, SG-70, SG-50 and SG-35. Well, this is middle class of this SG series. This SG gave us much impact when we saw 1st time in Yamaha shop. I was 13 years old that time. It was sort of dream guitar. The body construction is different from SG series in 1976. As you may know, Yamaha changed the specification of SG after they got many suggestion from Santana. The body is Nato wood. The neck is African Maho with Rose finger board. I'm not sure how many piece of wood (It is hard to see). The weigh is 3.45Kg. It is light weight compare with Les Paul. The nut width is 42.6mm The condition of this guitar is pretty good as 37 years old guitar. There are no serious dents and scratches except the pick guard. You could see the scratching of pick. The neck is straight and truss rod is still O.K. Well, the neck wood is dried and the wood around the edge of frets are a bit shrinking. This is not big problem for playing, anyway. The electric parts are original except the Pot below. The PU date is 1974.8.23 Yamaha Alnico magnet PU. I have changed : 1) Neck PU Pot (brand New Gotoh 500K B) 2) PU height adjusting screws (Previous owner lost 1 pc.) I put black plated SUS screws. That's all for changing parts. I have adjusted the string height only (pretty good) The original Hard Case will be sent with this guitar. This case is a bit damaged but O.K for using. |
