Argus Original Designed Bass (Maybe Kurukumo made/Shiino Designed)
This is Argus brand original designed bass. Argus brand was distributed by Kyowa Shokai (domestic whole seller, bankrupted 1-2 years ago). Kyowa distributed Fresher, Camel and Argus. Argus was top quality range series. Kyowa asked Mr. Hidesato Shiino to produce and address this brand guitars and basses. So, early Argus guitars were very good quality. Specially, their semi-Acoustic guitars were still used by many professional musicians even now.
This bass maybe built early 80's. I'm not sue Mr. Shiino involved this bass design, but could feel a bit influence from his design.
Maho body and 1P though neck. Yes, it is not really heavy tone.
Feel like SG bass tone, but still a bit Fender taste. I think this construction and material are suitable for fretless bass.
It is about 3.5Kg, pretty light weight. The neck is 41 mm width nut. Of
course, straight now.
I have checked the truss rod. It is fine to adjust. This is Maho neck.
So, I think you had better carefully adjust when you change
the heavy gauge on this basee.
The paint has a bit clouded. But think about the age, it is still proper condition.
If you are looking for the original tone, this 30 years old bass is suitable
for you. Look pretty good too!
