YAMAHA SB-2 First Original Designed Bass This is probably Yamaha first original designed bass. It is pretty hard to see the good condition. This model was produced 1966-67, only for 1 year. Well, as original designed bass, but we could see many unique function on this bass. The body material is probably Nato. The neck is maple and rose finger board. The Neck is bolt on type but we could adjust the truss rod under neck plate. This is not actually neck plate. Under the neck plate, there is small hole and we could adjust the neck very easy. I felt this is very good idea. It has 0 fret. So the nut (it was missing, so we replaced the born type) is just address the strings for tuner. The plastic knob tuner is pretty good looking (one of knobs are bit bent. The bridge originally have the metal cover. But it was missing. It looks like Fender type bridge. But Yamaha put the rosewood on the bridge end. Maybe, they tries to make the warm tone a bit. This bass is proper condition. I didn't rate the mint- because the control knobs are not original. Anyway, the neck is straight and easy to play. The nut width is 42.2 mm. It is 3.96 weight. Pretty good bass! Please try JV Yamaha Bass! |
