AKAI PROFESSIONAL 1997 SB-511
This is actually brand new bass. I got this from the factory (Vestax).
As you may know (if you knew well about JV history),
this bassr is already discontinued. You could check all story about Akai guitar on my WEB page.
For 13 years. this bass is sleeping at factory, and delivered here. It
is just like time machine. I started to check this bass detailed.
This bass is fully original designed bolt on neck style. It has a good quality 2P ash body and 3P maple neck (keep high durability).
The finger board is Ebony. The bolt on neck was set on the body with heelless
cut. It makes very easy play for high position. The neck head has the angle
like Gibson guitars. It made the good tension without strings guide. The
scales is same with 34 inch like Fender with 24 Frets..
The neck shape is almost like C, The nut width is 46mm.
The hardware, Gotoh Tuner and original designed bridge. This bridge has
the suddle Lock stopper. When you set the suddle with intnation adjustment,
you could lock the position of suddle. It prevent the suddle resonance.
Pick ups are -S-S Layout like Jazz bass. This bass has the pickup cover.
Of course, these pickups were made for 1997 series.
It is pretty good tone. Active circuit is designed for pre-amp. 1V 2T(Treble,bass)
and PU balancer. Small slsector switch changes
active and passive control.
The weight of this bass is very light. It is only 4.2 Kg. Very good quality
Ash wood is used.
No doubt, if we re-issue this guitar now, it should be over US$ 3000.
Good value for great historic MIJ bass now.
