Fernandes FPB-90 Precision Bass It is very difficult to specify the modeling of this bass. Probably, this is FPB-90 from the body finish. It not likes Poly finish. Looks like vintage taste thin painting. The serial number said it is 1976 made, anyway. The body material should be Maho. I don't think this is silver heard which Fernandes used for cost effectiveness model. The body weight is 3.85Kg. Silver heart is so heavy normally. Same Era Fernandes FST Strato replica is mostly over 4 Kg. So, I guess it should be Maho, even looks like. The neck is maple 1P. At the beginning of FST, FPB in 1975, Fernandes could not make the 1P neck. It was still difficult to make it for them. This is 1P neck. Nut width is 42.2 mm nut width. Of course, it is straight neck and truss rod is still fine. Pretty easy playing neck. The body finish is Violin finish, Fernandes said. It is very thin paint, could see the grain of wood. I didn't change any part for this bass. But, the pick guard is a bit looks good. Therefore, there is possibility that the previous user changed it. On the back, we could see the paint color change (maybe melted a bit). Please refer it on our picture. It is good bass. Please enjoy old JV bass. |
