ELK BS-490YSB early 70's made (Probably Matsumoku) Jazz bass The data of ELK guitar is so limited. We can see a few old catalog. I've only heard that early 70's professional Japanese players used ELK guitars, Basses and Amplifiers a lot. When I became the age to play the guitar, ELK became just Amplifier manufacturer. The company is still existing and producing the amplifier for Fender Japan, I've heard Actual manufacturer is Matsumoku, I've heard from several my friends. It is very good construction guitars and basses in early 70's. I think Greco didn't offer the good replica yet. You can see some more ELK guitars in this WEB page. I personally like ELK as collection. Well, these were not really great replica. But telling the history of JV guitars, ELK is one of important instruments. The condition of this bass is fine. Previous user changed the tuner? PU ? maybe some parts. But the body and neck condition are O.K. We could play this bass very well. The neck is straight, Truss rod is working and the fret are proper. The maple 2P (around head) + Rose wood finger board. The nut width is 40.4 mm I'm not sure the body material. It should be Sen 2PLY 3-4P body. It is 4.13Kg. We will ship this bass with Gig bag |
