I love Yamaha Guitars. Specially, their original design model are pretty good. Yes, some of them not really good design guitar, but as musical instruments, Yamaha is always great. However, only problem. Yamaha guitar parts are mostly not interchangeable with Gibson, Fender and other major guitar parts size. Therefore, once some parts were broken or missing, the end-user have a headache. Like Yamaha SG ! PU size, PU mount rings, screws, Bridge size, Tailpiece size... Really headache. The, Yamaha stopped the service parts distribution already. This guitar is same. This one is SC series in 1981. The 6 in-line head was changed to Gibson 3+3 type. I do not know why they changed. They took off 3 mini switches and put the 5way switches instead, just like Strat mode. Knobs are volume and tone. Tone knob is push-push type, it can change the number of coil turns. They said by-sound system (you could see the hot wires). They tone is getting more fat when it is ON, bid like humbucker feel. Tremolo unit is Yamaha original design. 2 points stud type with thick bar. It may work for the tuning stability. After I got this guitar, I re-assembled and cleared up. The push-push switch was damaged so, replaced with ESP push-push pod. Now this guitar is becoming just like brand new. Well, pretty good JV guitar! |
